Self Care Reminders

Beauty is not caused. It is.

Emily Dickinson

The weather has been very kind to us this summer in many areas of Vancouver Island. And the quote posted above by poet Emily Dickinson came from a tea bag, since our weather has allowed times of drinking regular tea without ice. πŸ«–πŸŒΏ This end of summer's blog post will cover some self-care reminders for the body (foot care), mind (nature), and spirit (music). ✨🩰🌿

"A real piece of art is a window into the transcendent, and you need that in your life, because you are finite and limited and bounded by your ignorance...

It is for such reasons that we need to understand the role of art, and stop thinking about it as an option, or a luxury, or worse, an affection. Art is the bedrock of culture itself. It is the foundation of the process by which we unite ourselves psychologically, and come to establish productive peace with others.

We cannot live without some connection to the divine-and beauty is divine-because in its absence life is too short, too dismal, and too tragic.

I loved this post – especially when it comes to the things you say about art: “It is for such reasons that we need to understand the role of art, and stop thinking about it as an option, or a luxury, or worse, an affection. Art is the bedrock of culture itself.” Indeed, it’s a great reminder for myself to think of art as the very reflection and state of culture. πŸ™
